What's Ripe Right Now at Fisher's Fruit

This is one of the best weekends of the entire fall at Fisher's Fruit Farm near Rochester. Macoun and Empire are both at peak — Macoun is fragrant, a little soft, and won't last many more weeks, so pick it before the window closes. Empire is in full stride: firm, sweet-tart, and one of the best all-purpose apples we grow. Gala and Fuji are excellent right now too. Honeycrisp, Golden Delicious, and Granny Smith are also on the trees. Fall Foliage Near Rochester — Brockport Is in It

Late September is when the trees around Brockport and Monroe County start to shift. The color isn't at full peak yet — that usually hits in early-to-mid October in Western NY — but the change is clearly underway. The orchards at Fisher's Fruit sit on Euler Road about 25 minutes west of Rochester, and the drive out on Route 31 through the Brockport area is part of the experience this time of year.
